Mark Twain was an interesting man. He lived a truly amazing life. Many people know Twain as an author, he had many famous books including The adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn. One thing that many people do not know about Mark twain is that he was hugely into technology. Whether it was in his writing or in his everyday life, Mark Twain loved technology. Twain was one of the first owners of a telephone, and used technology in much of his writing. Twain was also an inventor. He actually invented and patented the clasp that is now commonly used on the back of brassieres. Twain attempted to invent more and more things and sunk a lot of money into his inventions, and eventually died in poverty. Mark Twain was born Samuel Langhorn Clemens in 1835 in Missouri. Twain worked as a riverboat pilot early in his life, also. Mark Twain wrote many of his books about slavery and its flaws. Even as a Southerner, Twain was no fan of slavery. We argue that because of Twain’s progressive views on technology and inventing, he derived a more progressive view about slavery and the life and society of his time. Twain was progressive in his personal and professional life. He was also a very influential writer and person of his time. He has made an impact in many lives through his work both when he was alive and after he died. His progressive views were most definitely impacted by how he perceived technology. He looked at technology as something to help society, and not hinder it.
